MTSS: Cost-Effective yet powerful Vessel Traffic Surveillance solution!
The Marine Traffic Surveillance System (MTSS) provides the operator with a full Traffic Overview using the correlation of data available from a single or multiple AIS shore stations for Safety of Navigation inside an area, creates situational awareness, and provides operational supervision. The MTSS has additional features that allows the setting up of AIS systems and RADAR (optional if required) to be used to warn of impending collisions from vessels fitted with AIS or optional from an ARPA radar. The MTSS can be installed on fixed locations (Ports, Coastal Shore Stations) but can also be installed on an offshore platform.
Know when vessels enter or leave an area
In standard configuration, its prime use is to monitor one or more port areas using alarm zones that trigger when a vessel AIS signal shows it has entered or is likely to enter a defined zone. The system can filter vessels by their unique MMSI number and set to trigger or not trigger alarms. Multiple nodes can be used (one per AIS receiver) to filter the data for the port area to be covered by that receiver. This data is sent on to other MTSS nodes in the system, which filter the area covered by their own receiver. Messages can be sent to vessels using either Text Messages or Safety Related Messages (SRM).
Monitor one port, multiple ports or country-wide
MTSS uses a client-server architecture with dedicated server hardware and client-workstations, through Ethernet connections. AIS data is received locally and is further distributed over the network to other MTSS nodes. There is no limitation in the number of MTSS nodes and client-workstations. MTSS is based on Windows 7 (or later) operating system and on PC based software architecture. MTSS can also run in stand-alone mode on a single PC. Multiple PC’s can run in this mode, using the same input data. MTSS supports many different chart formats, including various raster and vector types.
