The Ericsson W35 Mobile Broadband Router utilizes an existing 2G/GSM/GPRS/EDGE or 3G/HSPA mobile network to provide phone and broadband data services to vessels and oil rigs offshore within network coverage.

The system comes complete with a high-gain maritime antenna. Depending on the height of the antenna position on board and on-shore, ranges of 5 - 50 nautical miles (or more) can be achieved for GSM and 5-10nm (or more) for 3G. Simply insert a SIM card into the Mobile Broadband Router, plug it into a power point on board and the device is ready for use as an alternative to or back up of a satellite terminal. With the W35, a user can connect multiple computers via the Ethernet ports or in-built WLAN and a printer/USB stick/external hard drive to the USB port for sharing with other connected users.

The W35 offers wired or wireless connectivity in a cost efficient manner. The unit has four RJ45 Fast Ethernet ports and one RJ11 phone port to connect a standard office phone set. PC's can also be located away from the terminal via the built-in WLAN access point. Adding a Cordless Telephone to the system will provide ultimate flexibility in voice connectivity whilst roaming around the vessel or oil rig. The simplicity of the W35 enables installation by the user within minutes. For vessels frequently operating both offshore the UAE and the USA, a global version is available.
